At SelfHacked, it’s our goal to offer our readers all the tools possible to get optimally healthy. When I was struggling with chronic health issues I felt stuck because I didn’t have any tools to help me get better.

Many people don’t know where to start when they’re not feeling well. The body of information, misinformation, and medical recommendations can become overwhelming. This means that the road to optimal health is hit-and-miss for most, which often takes years of self-experimentation before you feel that something is actually working. It requires a lot of time, energy, and perseverance. In fact, it took me 5 years to get to the bottom of my problems and figure out what’s causing them.

I had to spend literally thousands of hours trying to read through studies on PubMed to understand how the body works and how to fix it. In this post, I’ll give you a run-through what actually worked for me, and how you can use the tools I created based on my personal experience. My goal is to help people cut down the guesswork and get straight to the solutions.

Data Overload

health puzzle

As a health consultant, I also felt stuck for the same reason. I didn’t have the necessary tools to analyze all the data I was getting from clients in a time-efficient manner (lab and genetic data).

So even though I had a lot of knowledge in my head, it was too time-consuming to comb through all their data. I would get dozens of pages of lab results and a gene file with 700k SNPs. The existing tools to help with this were horrible. I realized that I had to invent another way, since nobody else did.

Lab Tests

First of all, take a moment to think about all the information you may already have, but forgot about. Piles of labs sitting around are one. I had a bunch of these, but I didn’t know how to interpret them. I wasn’t sure if I should pay attention to them or not, because all my results were coming back “normal”. But I was feeling nowhere near healthy.

When I went to the doctor and tried to talk about what my results meant, they rarely had the information or enough time to clearly explain it. They would look through my results and didn’t even pay attention to the markers that were flagged as being outside the “normal” range. More importantly, I started wondering what this ‘normal’ range even means, and I realized that “normal” is not the same as “healthy”.

When I first sat down to start designing the Lab Test Analyzer, I had my mind set on making it exactly the kind of tool that I wish I’d had when I was dealing with my own health issues. I also wanted to create a tool that would help other health consultants and practitioners, save them time, and give them all the information they need to help their patients reach optimal health, not just stay within normal ranges.

Since this information was not readily available, we hired the best scientists in the field and read through thousands of research papers to discover what the optimal ranges are for various markers.

Lab Test Analyzer is a tool that will not only tell you if your results are “abnormal”, but it will also tell you what the optimal values are for each blood marker — as well as provide you with actionable tips and personalized health and lifestyle recommendations to help you get there.

Genetics

One critical aspect of my personal healing journey was discovering important insights from my genetic data. But since there were no good tools available, I had to literally investigate every gene and SNP one by one.

It took forever because there were no tools that made it easy to do this. SelfDecode was borne out of my frustration of not being able to analyze my genes easily.

At SelfDecode, we do the heavy scientific lifting and give you information about how your health is being impacted by your genes, and how to use this knowledge to your advantage.

SelfDecode gives you lifestyle and supplement recommendations to prevent disease if your genetic makeup makes you more susceptible to some health issues. On the other hand, it points out your genetic strengths. If you’re less likely to suffer from a certain disease, you can use this knowledge to boost your health.

Interplay of Factors

However, most of the time, people’s issues cannot solely be detected by their labs.

The combination of environment, diet, and genetics is the main reason why people come down with chronic health issues.

Although one factor cannot be isolated from the whole, I’ve realized that each can help you identify your strengths, weaknesses, and the main triggers behind your chronic health concerns. Only once you piece them all together can you find the solutions that will work for you, and not bother with the other ones. And the good thing is that you have the power to modify each of these factors.

Environment and Lifestyle

In SelfHacked Secrets, we examine and explain the biggest environmental factors that cause disease. Many of these factors are not widely known and are often overlooked in mainstream medicine. This ebook is a great place to start your journey if you want to learn the essential steps to optimizing your health. It can help you track down the factors that are having the biggest toll on your health.

Inflammation and sleep are some of the most important factors for optimal health. Out of balance, they can disrupt many other processes in the body and contribute to chronic health problems. This is why we offer a Selfhacked Inflammation course and an ebook on biohacking insomnia.

It’s time to take your health into your own hands!

Diet

People often want to know which foods to eat depending on the health issues they’re experiencing. I’ve realized that people with autoimmune issues, chronic inflammation, IBS, IBD, CFS are sensitive to many foods. These can just trigger additional symptoms and lead to a vicious cycle of chronic health concerns piling up on each other. That’s when it becomes difficult to tease apart what causes the initial sensitivity.

I had previously experimented with many diets, but most of them didn’t make me feel better because I am sensitive to several plant substances. The Lectin Avoidance Diet is restrictive enough that I can function at 100% on it while occasionally indulging in small amounts of foods outside the diet.

I recognized early on that there is no one-diet-fits-all solution and several people still need additional tweaking beyond the Lectin Avoidance Diet, so I created the SelfHacked Elimination Diet Course. This course teaches why I recommend eliminating certain foods at first, and how to figure out if you are sensitive to each food using a thorough elimination diet. The program is created so that you can stay on your personal anti-inflammatory diets while eating the most diverse diet. It also includes my biohacks that allow me to have a treat occasionally.

These are great starting points for self-experimentation and simple to integrate into your daily routine.

Devices

Brain Gauge

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is “how do I know if this therapy is working for me?”

The truth is, it’s very difficult to know. Subjective evaluation is often flawed for many reasons.

The Brain Gauge is a device that detects subtle brain changes and allows you to test if a therapy is working for you. Many people struggle to tell if a diet, lifestyle changes, or therapy is making a difference in their symptoms. Brain Gauge is a sensitive device that can detect the most subtle changes, so you can be sure that you are moving in the right direction.

For a limited time, you can use the coupon code SELFHACKED to get 15% off Brain Gauge.

ICES PEMF Device

Often, people struggle with inflammation from many causes, which is hard to pinpoint. The ICES PEMF device is my favorite way to reduce inflammation, aside from foods. It helps me with fatigue and reducing my food sensitivity symptoms (mainly brain fog) if I happen to indulge in foods that I am sensitive to. I and a few people on my team find that using it on our heads induces a relaxation response.

Many of my clients and anecdotal reports from people who use the ICES found that it is especially helpful with chronic pain. The ICES is also helpful with the recovery of neuronal tissues or restoring neuronal functions, such as in the cases of traumatic brain injury [R] and urinary incontinence (anecdotal). The newest model M1 also has the TMS settings for depression, Schumann resonances, and different brainwave frequencies that you can play with.

In order to keep the costs low, this device is not approved to treat any health conditions and it is strictly experimental. The health claims are based on anecdotal observations or small studies. You can listen to Dr. Dennis answering questions about the experimental uses of the ICES as well as what he’s heard people have had success with here.

You can buy ICES from this website.

For the A9 and M1 models, use the $50 off coupon code: SAVE50

For the C5 and B5 Models, use the $100 off coupon code: SAVE100

The A9 and M1 models come with a 30-day return policy and a $150 restocking fee, so if you try it and it doesn’t work for you, you can return it.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

Low-Level Laser Therapy with red and infrared light can activate the mitochondria, which means it can reduce inflammation and stimulate neuroregeneration. I find that the Vielight is especially helpful for reducing brain inflammation and improving cognitive function, while the Joov light helps with skin and joint inflammation.

Use discount coupon code JOSEPHCOHEN for 10% off all Vielight products. Vielights are better than the cheaper ones.

The best device I use for whole body infrared therapy is the Joov light. The combo (660/850) is the best one.  Use the discount code SELFHACKED to receive $25 off each device.
